WORK IN CONFINED SPACES

The RIIOHS202A Enter and work in confined spaces course specifies the competency required to work in a confined space (enclosed or partially enclosed) for the purpose of carrying out work or inspections. It includes the minimum criteria for competency assessment.

The course includes entry and exit procedures, assessment of associated risks and how to operate safely in a confined space which is at atmospheric pressure during occupancy.

•    Less than 5 business days notice prior to the course: 20% of the course fee will be charged.
•    Less than 2 business days notice prior to the course: 50% of the course fee will be charged.
•    Fees will be non-refundable for participants who book a place in a training course and do not show up on the day that the course is held.

ENTER A CONFINED SPACE

The MSAPMPER205A Enter confined space unit of competency applies to persons who are required to enter confined space, for maintenance purposes, for cleaning or simply inspection. It is required by all persons who are required to enter a confined space, as defined by the standard AS2865/2001, or its authorised update or replacement. It is expected that all standby persons will also be competent to enter confined space.

The course has the prerequisite of MSAPMPER200A Work in accordance with an issued permit.

This unit includes:
• preparing to enter the confined space
• checking the preparations against the permit conditions
• entering the confined space.

 The course can be delivered as follows:

  • ONE DAY COURSE:  The one day course consists of MSAPMPER205A Enter confined space and MSAPMPER200A Work in accordance with issued permit.

  • 1½ DAY COURSE:  If you have the requirement for staff to be trained in the use of gas detection equipment the Unit of Competency MSAPMOHS217A Gas test atmospheres can be combined with the MSAPMPER205A Enter confined space and MSAPMPER200A Work in accordance with issued permit.
